Things to do outside of Las Vegas

Human-powered recreation in Vegas

The Strip is the main draw in Las Vegas. But outdoor recreation is a growing area for tourists and locals alike. We’re excited to be your local guide for things to do outside in Las Vegas, including running, cycling, walking, and hiking.

But isn’t Vegas too hot to be outside? No! Vegas has great weather for outdoor recreation 9 months out of the year.

In the summer, we take refuge at Mt. Charleston, about an hour from the Strip, and hike, trail run, mountain bike to our hearts’ content. In the winter, there’s even skiing.

Even better, Las Vegas has an optimal location for more outdoors exploration. There are at least eight National Parks within a day’s drive, including Utah’s Mighty 5. On top of that, there are plenty of other conservation areas that are worth your while, even without US National Park designation. We’ll give you a sneak peek into some of them.
