Charlie Frias Park Playground Entrance

Charlie Frias Park For Running?

Charlie Frias Park is in the Spring Valley area at Tropicana and Decatur. It has two dog runs, a playground, a labyrinth, and a large soccer field with a path around it.

Unfortunately, it also has an encampment of unhoused people on the northern side of the park. These folks kept to themselves during my walk, as did I. So if this is your closest running area, be respectful and you should be fine. I would avoid running here at night.

With that noted, the best route is to loop around the fields in the southern part of the park. This half-mile loop is the lowest point in the park, at the bottom of a bowl formation. Be cautious about running in the rain, as the fields could flood.

The bonus is that you can easily get stair work in. The southern side of the field has two separate staircases for easy access.
