In December of 2024, Southwest Las Vegas got its newest park: Lt Erik Lloyd Memorial Park. The park is on Patrick Ln and Tee Pee Ln in zip code 89148. It’s a nice neighborhood park with 4 gated dog runs, a tennis court, a playground, and a splash pad. The park has a wash that runs through the center, and scenic bridges that make access easy. There’s also a half-mile and a 1/3-mile walking path marked on signs at the park.
The park is so new, it didn’t show on Google Maps or Strava at the time of this writing. It was visible on Apple Maps.
For runners looking to get miles in, that half-mile isn’t quite enough. Fortunately, Patrick is low traffic and has a bicycle lane, giving runners a little extra room and safety. Oak Leaf park is almost exactly one mile west. Oak Leaf Park itself isn’t really big enough to run laps without getting bored, but joining the two parks makes a perfect 5k route.
From Lt Erik Lloyd Memorial Park, run west on Patrick Ln for almost 1 mile to Hualapai Way. Note that this will be a small incline, but enough to notice. Patrick will end here.
Cross Hualapai with care – there are no lights or stop signs for traffic on Hualapai. Cross to the other side of Haulapai and look to your left. You’ll see a small break between the walled-off subdivisions. This is a cute pocket park with manicured lawns. Continue running west through the pocket park to Mesa Park Dr.
Run south/southeast along Mesa Park Dr., through the traffic circle. Oak Leaf Park will be on the west side of Mesa Park Dr. Repeat to return to Lloyd Memorial Park.
