Battle Born Park in Las Vegas, NV 89139

Battle Born Park 5K Route Options

Battle Born Park is a new park in south/southwest Las Vegas at Lindell and Silverado Ranch Blvd. It’s small but has a variety of amenities, including playgrounds and fenced dog runs. It’s in between a lot of infrastructure, so there are a lot of power lines surrounding the park. It’s a great place for the kids to run around after school. But is Battle Born Park good for running?

Three 5k Route Options

The park itself is small, but there are a variety of options for a runner leaving their home in 89139 and wanting to get some miles in.

  • 6 laps around the park itself
  • 3 laps around the park and Ries Elementary School
  • An out-and back using a public works access road

Battle Born Park is just about a half-mile around. Ries Elementary is another half-mile. So it’s easy to do the math there and run your laps. The third option requires a little explanation.

At the northwestern corner of the park, there’s a wide stretch of graded but unimproved path. It’s about 1/3 of a mile from the park to Jones. This is slightly visible on Google Maps as a green dotted line, indicating a trail. The map of the trail ends at Jones, but the trail itself does not, although there are concrete barriers at Jones.

Run At Your Own Risk

This part of the route is unpaved and may or may not be truly open to the public.
Jones is wide and busy at the point where you cross, with no crosswalk, lights, or other safety measures.
Drivers will not be expecting pedestrians here, so cross with the utmost care.

Do not attempt to access the land just north of this access road, which belongs to Las Vegas Paving.
Be careful when running near trains, as they are large and can start moving without warning. If they’re already moving, they are very hard to stop.

Directly across Jones is an unpaved access road for Clark County Public Works. It’s blocked off from vehicular traffic with concrete barriers as well. This stretch is under 2/3 of a mile out to the train tracks.

There seems to be a trail that runs along the eastern side of the tracks for future exploration and additional miles. The trail is lined with power lines. If you have a sensitivity to high amounts of electricity, this is not the trail for you. But if you like trains, this is one way to get up close and personal with them.

Train tracks that run through southwest Las Vegas and an access trail for them.

Run straight east back to the park for another mile, and then loop around the park and school to finish up your distance.
